New year, new things to… be mad about?

Y’all, I’m exhausted. It’s not even March and I’m already feeling I can’t keep doing “this” anymore. I am talking about the amount of energy we invest on being mad at things we cannot control, situations that really doesn’t affect us or the way other people think.

People are oversensitive and over intolerant. If you don’t agree with me, you are against me, therefore we will punish you, we will burn you on a stick and make you feel sorry for the rest of your life. We are not listening to each other because we are busy yelling at each other.

How did we get here? Where is the crack that allowed respect, common sense, maturity and real inclusiveness to fell from the face of the Earth? I am here to humbly tell you to stop it. You will never be happy if you focus on everybody else’s problems, views, opinions and thoughts.

The grass is greener on the other side because we choose to see it that way. And yes, it has to do with seeing the glass half full or half empty. 2020 was not a great year and geez, 2021 doesn’t look good. But you know what? We have to keep going. I know I will. And I will always, always, celebrate your triumphs, understand your mistakes, and forget your shortcomings.

After a year like 2020, 2021 needs to be the opposite. People yearn for peace, compassion, empathy… but we are still stuck in pushing our own agenda, ready to destroy anything that feels like a threat to what we believe is right. There is just NO room for balance.

Why are we so mad at each other? Are we using intolerance and criticism as a distraction, as a tool that is helping us to ignore our own flaws? We have so much work to do, but guess what? The work starts within you, starts by counting your blessings, by being grateful of what you have instead of being mad at what you do not have. God bless us all.
